About Extended Davis Family of Virginia & North Carolina
This is to let you know who we are and what we are attempting to assemble.

We are the descendants of John Scott Davis and Mary America Privett her Father
Was Dempsey Powell her mother was America (Mercia) Privett.

Her brother as William 'Bill' Ayers the reason that Mary and Bill did not have
The same last name is that he was sold into Slavery to the Ayers.

John Scott Davis 2nd wife was Dora Taylor, of Wilson County, North Carolina;
Her parents were Ivey Evans and Harriett Taylor.

We are also the descendants of Harry Atkinson and Hager Atkinson their
Children were Hester, Handy, Harry, and Henry.

Handy married and Susanna Bell Barnes, her Parents was Isaac Bell & Abby, her
Brother was named Joseph "Joe" Bell Barnes.

Susanna and Joseph had to take the name of Barnes because they were sold into
Slavery to John H Barnes of Wilson County, North Carolina.

Hester Atkinson married Thomas Hinnant; we can trace our roots back to Wilson,
Johnston, Nash, Edgecombe and Wayne Counties, North Carolina.

My name is A. Elmer Davis and I am originally from Wilson, North Carolina.
It seems as if some of my ancestors preferred North Carolina and others relocate.

The main surnames I have researched are: Davis, Flower(s), Nichols, Powell, Atkinson,
Barnes, Evans, Taylor, Kent, Hinnant, Whitley, Joyner, Hester, Nichols,Privett,
Barnes, Kirby, Coley, Harris, and Lipscomb.

If you have time I would appreciate it if you would take a look at the "Unknown"
Surname listed in my pages. These are people (mostly wives) whose last name
Is not known?
By looking at their spouses it is possible that someone may recognize the family
And be able to provide me with the correct surname.

NOTE: Please use this data with the knowledge that you must do your own
Research to validate data. NOTE: THIS IS MY ENTIRE FILE; I DO NOT HAVE MORE
INFORMATION. IF YOU CAN ADD AND CORRECT, Please use the reference Number.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW

This would be greatly appreciated by me. Research is ongoing and I try to
Update the pages weekly, this is a working file there are duplications,
Unintentional errors and incorrect linkages.

All corrections are welcome!
